Achievements of Les amis de Lacassagne

Helping Hands is sponsoring Les Amis de Lacassagne since 2024.

Located in Nice, this association was created in 2012 and is dedicated to help Centre Antoine Lacassagne in his fight against cancer, and more, especially to help patients be less affected with side effects of treatments.

About Les amis de Lacassagne

The association, created by nurses working in the hospital, was initially created to organize concerts to raise funds and use their revenue to finance equipments needed by the hospital to improve daily life of patients in treatment.

In 2017, they have been able to offer the re-opening of the tunnel between building A and B, and in the following years, check-in connected screens to register upon arrival to speed up registration.

In the last years a walking carpet, MP3 devices, magazines, IPads, sofas, hairdryers, specific chairs for showers and more were purchased by the association.

They organise regular concerts, second hand markets, loto, and more to raise funds.

How Helping Hands Supports Les amis de Lacassagne

Hypothermic gloves and socks

In 2024, we have been able to offer enough gloves and socks to equip all patients per day who wish to benefit from this equipment.

Why is it important ? These items avoid the second effects of the chemotherapy treatment, which affects hands and feet. With these devices, the product is stopped by the freeze and does no more impact hands and feets. Once started, the side effects are not possible to treat, people can loose sensitivity in their hands and feet permanently, hence these items are really important to safeguard extremities of the patients.

The dermography unit

Centre Antoine Lacassagne has an exclusive unit in PACA managing tatoo post breast operation or chemotherapy .

In 2025 , our budget allowed to buy all the equipment needed for the 3 nurses qualified to tatoo women operated from breast cancer , or who lost their eyebrows post chemotherapy. Our donation supported two last last generation cordless dermographs, ink and needles.

Our stories with the association

I like this project because it is close to us and offers well being to patients fighting against cancer .

We all have a friend, a family member affected by this disease and it is meaningful to be able to help their daily life during treatment.

It is unfortunately the hospital cannot buy itself equipment because of budget constraints.

We can be proud supporting this high-technology and highly skilled hospital in the South of France.
