2022 Achievements AlasCinco: let’s beat the
hunger monster! (Colombia)

AlasCinco is an association created in Bogota, Colombia to protect children from one of the poorest areas of the country through a self-sustaining social model.

Most of the kids were born originally in rural areas of Colombia where they needed to migrate because of violence and extereme poverty. Their parents are foreigners in Bogotá.

Most of the children helped by AlasCinco belong to single parent families and those mothers struggle to find a job.

The difficult economic situation in Colombia are making donations decrease.

THE PROJECT

  • The association has a semi industrial kitchen where organic Granola “MOLA Granola” is produced by the kids mothers.
  • Most families have a single parent and those mothers struggle to find a job so through this initiative we achieve many objectives: providing a genuine income to the association, providing job to the children’s mothers and providing healthy food for both the children and the community.
  • “MOLA Granola” sales are currently covering partial cost of the food, health, and education (including IT/computing) for 46 kids in Colombia. If we invest 5000 EUR income will increase 35% allowing the association to ensure current activities on food, education family support and environment care can be sustained in the future.
  • In Amadeus Colombia a big group of volunteers spent a day there during the “Amadeus volunteer day” back in 2018 and had several activities to improve their industrial kitchen, paint their premises, create a small IT room with older PC’s from the ACO, play and share with the kids, etc.

ONGOING CHALLENGES

During 2023, we are working to help increase “MOLA Granola” sales which are currently covering partial cost of the food, health, and education (including IT/computing) for 46 kids in Colombia. If we invest 5000 EUR income will increase 35% allowing the association to ensure current activities on food, education family support and environment care can be sustained in the future.

AlasCinco has struggled to survive during the pandemic but is still supporting 46 kids with food, education, health and IT equipment in one of Bogotá’s poorest areas, “Cazucá”. The difficult economic situation in Colombia + the pandemic are making donations decrease and MOLA Granola allows to reduce dependence on donations and provide a sustainable income to allow keep and increase the diverse charity activities of the association.

Our stories with the association

During the time I worked for Amadeus Colombia I had the opportunity to contribute with this association and was inspired by the passion how they work and overcome many difficulties they face everyday, this touched my heart.

I’m convinced that love and solidarity are the most powerful forces in this world and with a little of ourselves we can change a person’s life. When that person is a kid motivation is even bigger since we are giving opportunities for a better future and education.

AlasCinco is creating real opportunities for  kids and is aiming to be 100% self–sustaining, meaning that in the future they shouldn’t need donations.

With “MOLA Granola” and more products and projects from AlasCinco, 46 kids (and hopefully more in the future) will have the opportunity to be sheltered by the association, to learn and to grow healthy and happy.

Please join us in this journey and help us help them!
