How to help in the time of Covid-19

We have all been working from home for the past year and we are not allowed to go out like before.

So in Helping Hands we asked, is there any way we can help people in need while being in #quarantine?

We are firmly convinced there is. And here are our tips:

1

Donate to organizations and associations in need

All our fundraising events are suspended till further notice. We expect of course funds for our projects to be lower than usual at the end of the year, but we think the priority now is to help fight the pandemic.

Please donate directly to organizations in need. At the moment, the most critical cases of our department are transferred to the Hospital of Nice which is looking for additional funds to cope with the emergency.

Click here to donate to Aveni, the Fonds de Dotation du Centre Hospitalier Universitaire de Nice.

(Remember you can deduct 66% of all your donations in the next tax declaration!!!)

2

Donate blood

Covid-19 unfortunately is not the only health emergency at the moment.

The EFS (Etablissement français du sang) has called for blood donations to help those people for whom transfusions are vital all year long.

Blood donation centers are public places where it is allowed to go even during the confinement (you must be in good health anyway!). Do not forget to tick “Assistance aux personnes vulnerables” in the attestation derogatoire de déplacement.

Find a donation center nearby.

3

Volunteer for people in need

Help elderly people or healthcare staff living near you by offering to babysit their kids or shop for their groceries.

You can find people in need on Réserve civique or EnPremiereLigne.fr.

IMPORTANT: read carefully the instructions on the websites; if you choose to help, please do follow all security guidelines issued by the government and written in the linked websites. Finally, do not forget to bring with you an “attestation de déplacement dérogatoire” with the option “Participation à des missions d’intérêt général sur demande de l’autorité administrative” ticked.
