What to expect from this session?

The practice will comprise of a simple warm up to loosen the body, lying down in Shavasana (rest pose) for a guided sleep meditation practice called Yoga Nidra (from the Bihar school of Yoga) allowing the body to enter a deep restful state, followed by sound healing to synchronise the frequencies of the body to the vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls to start the process of self healing.

No prior Yoga knowledge or physical fitness is required! All levels welcome.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation also known as “yogic sleep” or “effortless relaxation”. It’s usually practiced lying down with a teacher guiding the session. The practice draws our attention inwards, and we learn to surf between the states of wakefulness and sleep, where our body finds its natural state of equilibrium (homeostasis) – the breath balances and becomes quiet, unconscious and conscious aspects of the mind reveal themselves, and we fall into an innate state of deep, blissful awareness. As we rest here, we can turn our attention easily and effortlessly to the very nature of awareness and consciousness. We start to experience the ‘deeper’ features of yogic teachings that previously we perhaps considered intangible, such as feeling our interconnected wholeness and becoming aware of our true, unified nature – expansive, inclusive, and deeply restful. From here, we can be healed, restored and awakened to our deepest, all-knowing, all-welcoming self.

This powerful systematic meditation takes you through the pancha maya kosha (five layers of self), leaving you with a sense of wholeness and helps release samkara’s. A samskara (mental groove) is formed by a repetitive thought or habit that is deepened in the mind and body, creating a mental impression (groove) over time. These impressions can cause negative reactions and emotions which prevent a unification of the five layers (koshas) of one’s self. If these negative emotions continue to plague you, the mental/emotional layer of the self is unable to integrate with the other layers: physical, energetic, higher wisdom, and bliss body. This is where yoga nidra can be especially helpful.

Sound Healing

Sound Healing is a powerful therapy that combines different healing sounds, music, and sound healing instruments to improve our multidimensional well-being by creating a beautiful experience where all layers of our luminous energy field (body, mind, soul, spirit) are awakened gently and lovingly. Sound has always been used to heal and balance many aspects of our lives. It has been linked with all of the great spiritual philosophies of the world and has been woven into the fabric of humanity through time and civilizations.

Sound baths help to facilitate shifts in our brainwave state by using entrainment. Entrainment synchronizes our fluctuating brainwaves by providing a stable frequency which the brainwave can attune to. By using rhythm and frequency, we can entrain our brainwaves and it then becomes possible to shift our normal beta state (normal waking consciousness) to alpha (relaxed consciousness), and even reach theta (meditative state) and delta (sleep; where internal healing can occur).
